Background

St James Close, Quedgeley was previously used as a residential yard/ depot area. The site was originally occupied by a building known as ‘The Coach House’ which dates back to the 19th century. The Coach House was originally 2 farm labourers cottages during this period. The building was believed to have later been converted into the coach house, harness room, stables and laundry room for the Rectory. During the 1960s and 70’s it was used as a parish youth club, until the latter years of the 20th century where it became unused as did the rest of the site.
